The “Click to Cancel” rule allows you to file a complaint against a business that makes it difficult to cancel subscriptions. The rule goes into effect on October 1, 2026.
Under the “Click to Cancel” rule, businesses that offer subscriptions:
- Must clearly explain subscription terms
- Must clearly disclose your rights when buying or cancelling subscriptions
- Must provide you with a straightforward cancellation process in the same method as sign up
- Cannot ask that you pay to ship them things they gave you for free
The Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) enforces the “Click to Cancel” rule.
