Cooling Outreach On-Location (COOL) vans provide mobile resources specifically for the most vulnerable New Yorkers.

COOL vans do not have fixed locations. You also can't request a visit from a COOL van directly.

Operated by NYC Health + Hospitals, these vans focus on helping older adults and people experiencing homelessness.

Services and resources include:

  • Wellness checks, including in-home visits for older adults
  • Medical care
  • Essential supplies like water, electrolytes, and sunscreen
  • Transportation to cooling centers or health care facilities

If you need relief from the heat, please visit a cooling center. If you see someone living on the street who needs help, request homeless outreach assistance.

COOL vans will be dispatched to perform in-home wellness checks on older adults. This service is only available for NYC Aging case management and caregiver program clients.

COOL van services may be coordinated through a local case management agency or caregiver provider if you are a:

    • Homebound older adult receiving home-care services through an NYC Aging funded case management agency
    • Caregiver connected to a caregiver program

    Call 311 or 212-NEW-YORK (212-639-9675) for help.
