The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ), in collaboration with New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) are piloting a cargo drone program. The drone will be operated by Skyport Drone Services.

Cargo drones will transport non-hazardous, non-sensitive and non-biological cargo between the Downtown Skyport (Pier 6) in Manhattan and the Brooklyn Marine Terminal (Pier 7). The focus of the pilot is to test whether drones can be used to deliver goods in the future. The goal is to reduce traffic, lower pollution, and find better ways to transport items instead of using trucks for mid-distance deliveries.
