A Burn Ban in effect throughout New York State until Saturday, November 30th.
This burn ban prohibits the starting of outdoor fires statewide for purposes of brush and debris disposal, as well as camp fires and open fires used for cooking.
New York residents are also advised to:
- Be mindful of smoking. If you smoke outdoors, always dispose of your cigarette butts and matches properly. Never toss them on the ground or out of your car window.
- Stay on designated trails in parks. This helps protect the surrounding vegetation and minimizes the risk of accidental fires.
- Take additional precautions when doing activities such as welding near dry grass and weeds.
