NYC Noise is New York City’s Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) free iPhone and Android mobile app. The app will collect noise data for DEP to better understand noise levels, sources, and patterns.

The app does not submit noise complaint services requests.

You can file Noise Complaints here.

NYC Noise is for data collection only. It provides DEP with:

  • Noise decibel level
  • Date, time, and source of noise
  • Defines noise by types:
    • Alarm
    • Car and bus traffic
    • Construction
    • Dog/animal
    • HVAC/fan
    • Loud music
    • Siren
    • Vehicle horn

Submitted data appears in map and table formats. Data will help DEP identify noise hotspots and guide their targeted enforcement efforts.
