If you work in New York City, you have rights, no matter your immigration status.

The Workers' Bill of Rights is a guide to your rights at work under various City, State, and federal laws.

It covers rights and protections related to:

  • Pay
  • Leave
  • Work scheduling in specific industries
  • Health and safety
  • Discrimination
  • Hiring
  • Employee benefits

It also covers rights for specific workers, including:

  • Retail and utility safety workers
  • Fast food workers
  • Food delivery workers
  • Grocery workers
  • Freelance workers

Read the Workers' Bill of Rights.

All employers in New York City must post the Know Your Rights at Work poster where their employees can easily see it.

By July 1, 2024, they must also give a copy to each employee. Employers must also make the poster available on any online platform it uses, such as a company intranet.

The multilingual poster tells workers they have rights and refers them to 311 or nyc.gov/workers to learn more.

You can get the poster online or by mail.
