Some New York City homeowners were eligible to receive a $150 property tax rebate.

The deadline to apply for the property tax rebate was March 15, 2023.

This was a one-time rebate.

Eligibility

The property tax rebate was for homeowners whose New York City property is their primary residence and whose combined income is $250,000 or less.

Most recipients of the School Tax Relief for Homeowners (STAR) exemption or credit automatically qualified and did not need to take any action to receive the rebate.

Rebate Check Distribution

Rebate checks were mailed in the summer of 2022. Homeowners with outstanding property taxes received the rebate as a credit on their property bill.

The Department of Finance will not be issuing replacement checks. If the check you receive is damaged, please send it to the mailing address below. The rebate amount will be applied as a credit to your property tax account.
