Monday, May 25th is Memorial Day.

All government offices are closed, including:

  • Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV)
  • City and State Courts
  • Social Security offices
  • Post offices
  • Regional Enrichment Centers (RECs)

There will be no mail delivery.

Grab and go meal distribution will be available at select locations. GetFoodNYC Emergency Home Food Deliveries will continue.

Alternate Side Parking (street cleaning) rules are suspended.

You do not have to pay the parking meter.

No stopping, no standing, and no parking regulations are suspended, except where those regulations are in effect anytime or seven days a week.

All NYC public schools and the P311 (Parent Support Hotline) are closed on Monday, May 25th.

There will be no remote learning on this day.

There is no trash or recycling collection on Monday, May 25th.

  • If Monday is your regular trash collection day, place your items curbside after 4 PM on Monday evening for collection beginning Tuesday, May 26th.  In some areas, your items may not be picked up until your next collection day.
  • If Monday is your recycling collection day, place your items curbside on Sunday, May 31st after 4 PM for collection beginning Monday, June 1st.

The Staten Island Ferry will operate hourly on Memorial Day.

Ferries will depart on the hour from St. George Terminal and on the half hour from Whitehall Terminal.
