Friday, April 7 is Good Friday. It is not an official holiday.

All government offices, including the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and courts, are open. Mail delivery follows a regular schedule.

Public schools are closed.

Alternate Side Parking (street cleaning) rules are suspended.

All other parking regulations, including parking meters, remain in effect.

Trash, recycling and compost collection follow a regular schedule.

All NYC Public Schools are closed on:

  • Thursday, April 6 for Passover (First Day)
  • Friday, April 7 for Passover (Second Day) and Good Friday
  • Monday, April 10 through Friday, April 14 for Spring Recess

Students return to school on Monday, April 17.

Please note that P311 (Parent Support Hotline) and Family Welcome Centers, including enrollment centers, are closed on April 6 and April 7.

Parking in School Zones

Parking is allowed in school zones when school is in recess. However, specific schools may be open on holidays, and parking restrictions would remain in effect. You should contact specific schools to verify that they are in recess.

The Staten Island Ferry runs on a normal schedule.

All branches of the City's Public Library systems are open.
