Rosh Hashanah takes place on Monday, September 26th and Tuesday, September 27th.

On both days:

  • Government offices are open. There is mail delivery.
  • Alternate side parking is suspended. All other regulations, including parking meters, remain in effect.
  • New York City public schools are closed. P311 (Parent Support Hotline) and Family Welcome Centers (enrollment centers) are also closed.
    • Parking is allowed in school zones when school is in recess. However, specific schools may be open on holidays, and parking restrictions would remain in effect. You should contact specific schools to verify that they are in recess. Visit the School Finder page to get contact information for a school.
  • Trash, recycling, and compost collections are on schedule.
  • The Staten Island Ferry runs on a normal weekend schedule.
