The NYC Food Standards are evidenced-based nutrition criteria mandated for City Agencies and voluntarily adopted by non-government organizations.

The Standards address various settings in which food is purchased and served including in:

  • Meals and snacks
  • Vending machines
  • Meetings and events
  • Commissaries

The NYC Food Standards aim to improve the health of all New Yorkers served by City agencies by lowering the risk of chronic disease through increasing access to healthy foods and improving dietary intake.

Information and resources are available to implement the Food Standards at a City agency, university, hospital, organization, or other institution.
