You can get information about free fitness and low-cost fitness classes and programs.

Through Shape Up NYC, the Department of Parks and Recreation offers free fitness classes every week at recreation centers and other locations across the five boroughs.

Expert fitness instructors teach a variety of classes including:

  • Aerobics
  • Yoga
  • Pilates
  • Zumba

Registration is required and is open on a rolling week-to-week basis. Registration for each week's classes opens the day after the previous class took place (or on Monday for weekend classes) and lasts until the start of class.
