Families Forward is a free job training program to help non-custodial parents who owe child support and earn less than $62,000 a year. A non-custodial parent is a parent who does not live with and is not the primary caretaker of a minor child.
Training is offered for the following careers:
- Cable Installation
- Commercial Driving
- Hotel Hospitality
- IT Support
- NYCHA Janitorial
After completing the full-time training program, you:
- Will receive help finding a job
- Will receive help managing your child support payments or financial issues
- May be eligible for a reduction of the child support debt you owe the government
This voluntary training program is part of a study to evaluate how free job training may help you find employment, advance your career, and increase your wages.
You must be able to commit to an unpaid 35 to 40-hour-a-week training program for a minimum of 4 weeks. The program meets Monday through Friday and the length of the training varies depending on the career track that you select.
To apply, you must register for an orientation session.
