NYC Department of Small Business Services (SBS) has resources for Business owners and people interested in starting a business.

The courses are free, but class size is limited. Advanced registration is required.

You can get certified as a Minority and Women-Owner Business Enterprise (M/WBE). There is a virtual webinar every Wednesday.

Businesses interested in getting government contracts can get one-on-one help and training.

This includes local, state, and federal government contracts. Resources are available in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Staten Island.

You can get certified as a Locally Based Enterprise (LBE). This is for construction businesses. You must attend a virtual webinar to certify. They are available every quarter.

The Bond Readiness Program helps businesses:   

  • Obtain surety bonds   
  • Increase surety bond capacity for City construction projects    

This is for NYC M/WBE Certified and small construction firms. They can receive:   

  • Education   
  • Training  
  • One-on-one financial management guidance   

This program is 12 sessions twice a week. There are two sessions a week. You can take it online.

Selling to Government 101 provides vendor training for:

  • Using the City Record Online  
  • Using NYC Agency Procurement Plans  

Vendors should bring laptops or tablets to access NYC websites during the training.
