The Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade on June 24, 2022. This ended the national right to abortion. Abortion rights will now be decided by each state.

Abortion is legal and protected in New York. You can get counseling and abortion care at many health centers in New York City.

If you are a teenager, you can get sexual health services, including abortion care, at a clinic without your parents' permission or knowledge.

Services are confidential, free or very low-cost, and open to all. You will be helped regardless of your immigration status.

Health insurance, including Medicaid, may cover the cost of an abortion. Contact your health insurer to find out what your plan covers.

You may be eligible for New York State Medicaid to cover your abortion procedure if you do not have other coverage. Pregnant New Yorkers can qualify for Medicaid at higher income levels.
