Once a site is designated a landmark, the City must pre-approve interior or exterior construction or painting, including any work on fences and sidewalks.

You need to get a permit before performing any work on a landmark building or site. You can download the permit application online.

If the sidewalk is part of a landmark site and is made of concrete, the City may make repairs with concrete. If the sidewalk is made of another material, the City will probably not make repairs.

You must get an additional permit from the Landmarks Preservation Commission before a private contractor can do any work on the sidewalk.
