You need a Small Animal Grooming Establishment Permit to provide grooming services to pets and other small animals that don't stay overnight.

Fees

If you apply between:

  • July 1 and December 31, the fee is $15
  • January 1 and June 30, the fee is $30

The renewal fee is $30 per year.

Expiration Date

The permit expires each year on December 31.

In Person

To apply in person, you have to bring your completed application to the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) Licensing Center or the NYC Small Business Support Center. Appointments are required.

Several weeks before your permit expires, the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) will mail you a renewal package.

You can renew online or submit your application by mail or in person.

To renew online, you need to have a Personal Identification Number (PIN) issued by DOHMH.
