Some former incarcerated people who are on probation are required by the court to make payments to victims as a condition of their release. This is called a restitution payment. The City's Department of Probation (DOP) monitors and enforces probationer compliance with a court-ordered condition of restitution.

If probationers repeatedly fail to make restitution payments or don't appear in court to answer allegation that they violated the terms and conditions of their sentences, they may get a probation violation.
