You need a permit to use a metal detector in designated parks or beaches.

Metal Detecting is restricted to the open fields and rough lawn areas in specific parks throughout the City.

The following City beaches allow metal detecting:

  • Orchard
  • Manhattan
  • Rockaway
  • South/Midland

Metal detecting is restricted to the open sandy areas under boardwalks in these beaches.
