Call 911 to report unpermitted or reckless drone use.

The operation of unmanned aircraft (UA), including drones, within New York City requires an Unmanned Aircraft Permit. This permit is issued by the NYPD, in partnership with the Department of Transportation (DOT).

Visit nyc.gov/dronepermits to learn about the Unmanned Aircraft Permit application process and required documents.

All UA must also be registered with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and be FAA-compliant. Learn more on the FAA website.

Operators using drones recklessly or without prior authorization are subject to civil and/or criminal penalties.
