The goal of Public School Choice (formerly known as No Child Left Behind) is to:
- Raise academic standards
- Close achievement gaps
- Encourage more school accountability
- Offer more choices to families and students
A key part of the law allows students in "schools in need of improvement" for two years to transfer to another school. Students in "schools in need of improvement" for three years may receive free additional tutoring, also referred to as supplemental education services.
