You may need a permit to install a pool at a 1- or 2-family residential building. All pools must meet the following requirements:

There must be a 4-foot high fence all the way around in-ground pools with a closed, child proof, self-closing gate.
If the lot is 25 feet wide or more, the pool must be at least 5 feet from any lot line.
If the lot is less than 25 feet wide, it must be at least 3 feet from any side lot line.
There should be no overhead electrical conductors installed within 22.5 feet of the pool.
