You can enter a building address on Housing Preservation and Development’s (HPD) website to search for building data and information about complaints, violations, litigation, property registration, charges, and more.

Get additional building or complaint information using HPD Online.

When residential rental property owners do no make timely repairs to correct violations, the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) may take action to correct the conditions through its Emergency Repair Program (ERP). All expenses for repair work orders issued by HPD are charged to the property owner.

You cannot make a request for service through this program. When appropriate, HPD escalates complaints to the Emergency Repair Program and the program will reach out to the tenant via phone call or letter.

If you're a tenant in a building with active ERP work orders, you can get status and more information from HPD.
